The Eneko Lisboa restaurant, by the Basque chef Eneko Atxa, who currently holds 5 Michelin stars, is the most recent gastronomic project of Penha Longa Resort.

Eneko Lisboa brings to the city of Lisbon fine dining “plus local nuances”, whilst remaining true to the philosophy of the three Michelin Star Azurmendi restaurant.

In Eneko Lisboa, diners will experience the essence, intensity and unique flavour of the traditional Basque cuisine with modern and innovative touches.

THE MENU

Eneko Lisboa offers two tasting menus: Erroak and Adarrak. The first, Erroak (“Roots”) consists of iconic Eneko dishes that have remained in the menu due to their singularity. The second menu, Adarrak (“Branches”) is comprised of Chef Eneko Atxa’s newest creations.

Both menus are complemented by a wide selection of fine wines from around the world.

VENUE

Located in Alcântara, currently one of the main night-life hubs of the Portuguese capital, in the Eneko Lisboa restaurant you can experience the essence, intensity and unique flavours of the Basque cuisine of Eneko Atxa.

Considered part of Lisbon’s heritage, the vintage space in copper tones is mythical and timeless, with a modern and unique decoration.

Open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

SUSTAINABILITY

“If you love where you live, you must respect it” Eneko Atxa.

What makes chef Eneko Atxa unique is his concern for matters regarding the environment, sustainability and social impact.

The Azurmendi restaurant, which opened its doors in 2005, twice awarded as the most sustainable restaurant in the world, has 3 Michelin stars and occupies the 14 th place in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. The space is able to generate its own energy through photovoltaic panels and geothermal energy or by using rainwater for the in-house vegetable gardens.

The exterior is made of glass in order to take maximum advantage of the natural light. There is a garden on the building’s roof with edible flowers, which are used in some dishes.

The planet is blessed with countless sustainable practices.

ENEKO ATXA

Eneko Atxa Azurmendi (1977) is a 5 Michelin star chef born in the Basque Country, Spain. He is the chef and owner of the Azurmendi *** restaurant.

Chef Eneko Atxa’s philosophy remained the same over time: to make people happy with his cuisine and to “cook” a better future. His constant commitment to welfare, solidarity and sustainability made his Azurmendi *** restaurant, with three Michelin stars, occupy the 14 th place in the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list. Moreover, this restaurant was twice considered the world’s most sustainable restaurant, the last time in 2018.

It was also nominated for the “Best Restaurant in Europe”, according to OAD (Opinionated About Dining) and for the “Best Restaurant in the World”, according to the luxurious magazine Elite Traveler. Chef Eneko Atxa was granted the “National Gastronomy Award 2015” and is part of the European “Young Leaders”.

THE ENEKO CONCEPT

In the new Eneko Lisboa restaurant, Chef Eneko Atxa develops and shares his great creativity acquired in the Azurmendi *** and in the ENEKO restaurants throughout the world. His passion and sensitivity, cultural roots, connection with the surrounding land and its products define the Eneko Atxa’s gastronomy.

In Eneko Lisboa, the traditional Basque cuisine is the basis of his creations, enriched with local ingredients. The restaurants presents a kitchen inside the room, where the customers may observe the entire process of the dishes’ confection.
